My Million To One is a website aiming to change lives in Africa by making YOUR dreams come true in the UK. Everything you’ve always wanted to do (really wanted to do) now’s the time.

For £1… anyone can buy membership to the MMTO website and gain access to FREE events (like Q&As with Sir Ranulph Fiennes) and 100s of discounts to do everything you have ALWAYS wanted to do, but didn’t think you could afford.

And how does this affect Africa? MMTO will have over a million members by the end of 2014 and the £1,000,000 made will both build and fund a home for abandoned disabled children in Southern Africa FOREVER.

This is a new charity model because once we’ve made £1,000,000 – even after the home has been built – the interest alone will fund the home while the lump sum will remain intact: ensuring that we never have to fundraise again. You pay £1 once and you’re changing your life and their lives forever.

If I choose to advertise on My Million To One will I just get lost amongst 1000s of other companies?

Not at all.   Every company will be placed in the most relevant and beneficial area of the site for their required market.  There may be 1000s of companies on the site overall but these are spread over 100s of different categories (and potentially millions of members.)  Just as potential customers may otherwise find you by searching directories by region and product: so can members navigate MMTO and find what they are looking for very easily.

For those companies who are a little concerned about being advertised to over a million people: because of the variety of categories available no company should find themselves unable to cope with the demand & if you would like to be cautious then simply limit your advert to being valid for a couple of weeks.  You can always re-submit the same advert again immediately if you enjoy the experience.  MMTO should be seen as a great chance to both broaden your customer base & offer a sale (all in the name of charity) to your already loyal customers, with no advertising costs or commission fee to consider.

When I advertise on directories I don’t have to offer a discount.  Why do I have to on MMTO?  How does that benefit me? 

MMTO should be regarded as a great opportunity for businesses for a number of reasons…

–       Free advertising to a huge & very targeted audience

–       No commission. MMTO site makes all its profit from membership fees, providing companies with higher profit opportunities & members with greater discounts.

–       Each company can choose a discount model that best suits its purpose.  Companies and members MUST feel the benefits of MMTO simultaneously.

–       Attracting the ‘right’ customers. Ie People who love this product/service as opposed to just buying a deal. This is a key difference to Daily Deal Discount Sites as MMTO offers products that are dreams for members – high emotional association – and it will lead to a higher retention of new customers (especially beneficial for new businesses/entrepreneurs)

–       MMTO offers a unique opportunity for companies to sell products/services at discount without cheapening their brand as they will be regarded as offering discounts as both part of a charitable endeavour and to help the British public achieve their dreams. Companies will increase short term profits and gain long term business

How will £1,000,000 run the home forever?

After a lot of research in the area (and factoring everything in from food, utilities, maintaining the home & medical care) it was decided that the maximum expenditure each year would be £38, 196.00 and the likely expenditure would be more like £27,963.00. This money will come from a trust fund of £1,000,000 that will be placed in multiple funds (similar to those used by The Princes Trust and Comic Relief) to gain 7.5% interest. Any of the £75,000 not used on the home each year will be placed back into the trust to protect against inflation.

Where in Southern Africa?

It’s a country bordering South Africa.  The reason we’re not releasing detailed information is because of our child protection policy to protect the children & charities involved.  Our patrons are fully aware of the details.   All professionals offering their time are on board because they know the full details and believe both in the cause & in how My Million To One can help people throughout the UK.

How many children will the home be for?

The home will initially house up to 8 children.  That’s the number of children currently in the hospital.  This home will be their home for life since the children are likely to need support and medical care for life. As time goes on we intend to set up volunteer programmes to keep costs low and to potentially expand the home to help more people.

What sort of dreams will MMTO cater for? 

These dreams fall into 8 categories (each featured on its own page)

• Career (Professionals & targeted companies across a range of industries will help members achieve their goal through unique workshops, talks etc. From being an actor or director to being a professional explorer

• Travel (From round-the-world trips to uk tourist attractions or romantic mini breaks)

• Love (Everything from dating sites, inspirational ideas for first dates to your affordable dream wedding or super silver wedding anniversary)

• Activities (Paragliding, caving, water skiing or even sky diving)

• Make a Difference (Any charity can advertise on this page for donations or to tell people about its fundraising events. Alternatively if you’re looking for a fun way to support a charity or even already doing something and you want to shout about it, members can use this page to make a difference in the world)

• Networking (This is focused on independent businesses: it’s for anyone who is running their own business, be it designing gorgeous & unique clothes & jewellery, selling natural products, buying & selling property or running their own restaurant, pub or events company.

Anyone who has the courage to make things happen for themselves should be supported and we want to shout about you on our site.) This page can have as many categories as needed so if you feel you fit into a category not present in our example pages, we’ll create a new one for you!

• Make A Dream Come True (Anyone who is already trying to achieve – or already living – their dream can advertise on this page, be it advertising for crew for a low budget film or selling theatre tickets to an independent production. This page is especially for creative individuals, projects, performers or companies)

• More (less specific dreams such as ‘find long lost friends’ or ‘break a world record.’)

My Million To One is anxious not to be misinterpreted as a discount or deals site.

MMTO tries to address the excuses that stop people seizing the day… Let’s examine the dream of ‘Taking the trip of a lifetime.’

Someone may feel that they can’t afford a trip that’s £300 more than the usual holiday.  This is addressed by companies offering discounts, but not just the travel company that sells the trip: it’s also the companies selling everything you need to support you on that trip (guidebooks, language books, backpacks, equipment, clothes.)  This dramatically cuts costs across the board.  (The next excuse… In a busy schedule how are you meant to find these companies?  They are all accessible from the same page.)

Another excuse may be that someone may feel nervous and lack confidence about travelling somewhere new.  To address this concern, professional explorers – regular speakers at the Royal Geographical Society – are holding FREE inspirational talks for MMTO members about the challenges they have overcome and how anyone can follow in their footsteps.

Finally, someone may feel that no-one else is doing it… well, they can read the 100s of travel blogs listed on the site.

How do I (a member) benefit?

–       For just £1 each member will gain access to exclusive offers, discounts, competitions and FREE events

–       MMTO isn’t about companies selling products: it’s about addressing the excuses people make that get in the way of their goals and giving as much confidence and inspiration as possible to motivate people instead.

–       Everyone will find reward in at least 1 of the 8 categories & different demographics will find different products/services desirable….

–       … And if we’ve missed something: there’s an inbuilt petition system where any member can start a petition for any product from any company and if enough members sign we’ll approach the company for you. The site isn’t about us… it’s about you. So as soon as you’re a member you can shape it as much as we can.

What sort of discounts do I enjoy as a member?

They differ from company to company but everyone  is offering a deal that offers the best benefit to the member.  Some are offering 2 for 1 options.  Some are offering straight discounts.

MMTO is designed for everyone to benefit: the company, the member and ultimately the children in Africa.   This is not a site where companies are expected just to break even on any sale they make.  Since companies are able to choose the discount model they want to use, they are able to have sales on a more long-term basis: helping more MMTO members than just the initial few who secure the offer.

Why is it called a ‘club’ and not just a ‘website’?

MMTO is far easier to understand if it is described as a members club than just a standard website.  The events, offers & raffles are exclusive to MMTO members only.  Not only that but the site has been so creatively designed that you navigate around it as thought you are actually inside an old fashioned British members club.  You can move from room to room, open props to find adverts inside even make the site your own using our petition system.

How do you apply for an event? (Ticketed/Application) 

Join MMTO for £1 once, go to the Careers Page, click on the event you want & reserve your place.  Then turn up & have a good time!

What if the event I want is fully booked?

The ticketed events – like talks and Q&As – are first come first served and likely to sell out quite quickly.  All events are filmed though, so if you miss it you can still watch it online and benefit from the advice.  If you aren’t local/haven’t been able to get a place at a Q&A you can also email in your questions and receive the filmed/recorded reply.

How long will MMTO last?  When do you need the £1,000,000 by?

There are a few plans in the pipeline for how MMTO will develop when the year is out, but the deadline to make £1,000,000 is 22nd November 2014
